Another killing, on east Baltimore Street . It happened at three forty-five yesterday morning. Nobody knew why the killing took place, or who was involved. Police arrived on the scene just minutes after people close by reported gunfire. The body was not found for another hour and a half. At twelve o'clock in the afternoon the police arrested a man by the name of jams Thomas. They pulled him over on a routine traffic stop for speeding. After further inspection of the car they found a firearm in the passenger side glove box. It just so happened to be the same type of gun used in the killing earlier that morning. At one forty-five in the afternoon James Thomas was in the custody of the New York City police department.
"It wasn't me I swear" Said James
"Yeah, I knew this wasn’t going to be easy to get him to talk." said Lieutenant Adams
"Then why did we just happen to find the same type of gun used in a murder just hours ago in your car" Said detective Lucas
"Can I ask you a question sir?"
"Shoot"
"How many people do you think carry around a gun in this fine city"
"I can’t be sure of that, but I can be sure that there are only five people that own the same type of gun that we found in that car. Might I add that two of those people live in California ?"
"That still leaves two more options; just maybe one out of the 8 million people that live in New York City might have the same gun."
"Can I ask you a question?"
"Go for it"
"How many people have that kind of gun, live in New York City, and just happen to be speeding and running red lights just hours after a murder took place no more than 10 miles away."
"I think that I just happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time."
"I agree with you"
"You do?"
"I agree with you but I still think that you know something that we don’t about the murder."
"You could be right, but your not!"
"I don’t appreciate your sarcasm. This is a serious matter. Its about now that you better choose your words very carefully."
"I have chosen my words carefully and I think that, I did not do it, can pretty much sum up my argument."
"That’s were you made your first mistake"
Detective Lucas jumps out of his chair and throws James on the ground. When James is on the ground detective Lucas handcuffs him and drags him out of the room. An hour later they were at the NYPD head quarters. Detective Lucas sits James down on a chair and handcuffs him to the chair.
"Hello detective Lucas, I’m detective smith from the New York investigation team."
"This is the guy."
"Have you gotten any information from him?"
"No all he had was a wallet, his name is James Thomas. He doesn’t have a record; actually this is his first time even being pulled over."
"Good work we will take it from here."
"I think I might just stick around if that’s ok with you."
"Sure that’s fine"
Another man knocked on the door. Both men walked out of the room leaving James handcuffed to the chair.
"Detective Lucas this is dr. sanders from the forensics lab."
"How are you doctor?"
"I’m fine" said Dr. Sanders "I was just in the lab doing some tests on the body from the murder earlier this morning"
"And"
"Well I found out some inform…"
There was a noise in the other room. The three men ran into the interrogation room to find that nothing was out of the ordinary.
"Sorry about those doctor Sanders, you were saying"
"Yeah I don’t know what to tell you but some of your information has to be wrong"
"What do you mean?"
"Well the DNA tests came back and the body that was found was that of a James Thomas."
The men turned around to find James standing before them with a gun pointed at Detective Lucas. The other two men stood motionless as they were shocked by what was happening. Three shots were fired. Another officer that was on guard outside of the room ran in to see what happened. The room was empty.
