seems like forever

well it seems like its been forever since ive done a blog but to look back it has only been one week. i guess you could say there is a lot going on in school. and when theres a lot going on time goes very slow. what keeps me going is the music that i listen to instead of doing things in class. i know most people would think that if i am listening to music i wont be paying attention in class which means bad grades which means that i will be overwhelmed that will in turn make time go slow. and if you were to say that you would be completely wrong. except for english i have all "a's" but quite strangely in my mind the only class that i dont listen to music in,english, i have my worst grade. so i have concluded not that music helps me but that english is not the class for me. i dont know how i came to this conclusion but i did. well im rambling as i do in most of my blogs. and the reason for that is that is because we dont really do anythng in english that peaks my interest. i dont know why english has never been anything bad for me before but i guess this year its just a different story im not sure and i dont really care. and jst for the record darius rucker is the best country music artist alive.

not right

well once again i have to turn in my blog late before blogs were ok but now thay are just really irratating i dint know why we have to do them i have put up with them for a long time without complaining but it has gone too far. i would also like to say that i havent yet submitted my project yet because this stupid website will never work i dislike the layout of it and just about everything else. blogs used to be ok but every week is too much. i dont like how we are a class to be experimented with, for example this is the first year that people had to do their multi genre projects online. as it turns out someone that is not great with computers might have trouble writing a multipule page project on this site.i dont think it is fair to us as students . the day before the project was due i had everything done written down on paper. now multipul weeks later i still havnt been able to submit it. wow i wish it was like every year before because i would be done by now. that is all i have to say on this blog. i just wanted to express my dislike for this site in a more passionate way.

Another Late Blog

once again my bad habbits have led me to another late blog post. i really have to start doing my blogs on time. but that is not the point of the blog. in class we are reading novels. i have chosen a classic i am told. my brother recomended that i read a book called the outsiders, so by my good judgement i picked up that book at the library. once i started reading it the book imediatly grasped my attention.the first three pages of the book lead into the main character getting into a fight. i dont particularly like to read but for those of you that dont like to read this book will grab your attention fast and keep it. i have only read the first chapter and i can invision myself in the shoes of the main character. the setting of the book is discribed with such realistic and relatable places. i was told this was a good book and i am very excited to read and find out the rest of it .
this is the cover page of the book. unfortunantly the only copy at the gahanna library is checked out by me. but after the assignment i plan on returning the book so feel free to check it out. like i said i have only read the first chapter and im hooked.

"According to Ponyboy, there are two kinds of people in the world: greasers and socs. A soc (short for "social") has money, can get away with just about anything, and has an attitude longer than a limousine. A greaser, on the other hand, always lives on the outside and needs to watch his back. Ponyboy is a greaser, and he's always been proud of it, even willing to rumble against a gang of socs for the sake of his fellow greasers--until one terrible night when his friend Johnny kills a soc. The murder gets under Ponyboy's skin, causing his bifurcated world to crumble and teaching him that pain feels the same whether a soc or a greaser."

Short Story

            Another killing, on
east Baltimore Street
. It happened at three forty-five yesterday morning. Nobody knew why the killing took place, or who was involved. Police arrived on the scene just minutes after people close by reported gunfire. The body was not found for another hour and a half. At twelve o'clock in the afternoon the police arrested a man by the name of jams Thomas. They pulled him over on a routine traffic stop for speeding. After further inspection of the car they found a firearm in the passenger side glove box. It just so happened to be the same type of gun used in the killing earlier that morning. At one forty-five in the afternoon James Thomas was in the custody of the New York City police department.

"It wasn't me I swear" Said James

"Yeah, I knew this wasn’t going to be easy to get him to talk." said Lieutenant Adams

"Then why did we just happen to find the same type of gun used in a murder just hours ago in your car" Said detective Lucas

"Can I ask you a question sir?"

"Shoot"

"How many people do you think carry around a gun in this fine city"

"I can’t be sure of that, but I can be sure that there are only five people that own the same type of gun that we found in that car. Might I add that two of those people live in California?"

"That still leaves two more options; just maybe one out of the 8 million people that live in New York City might have the same gun."

"Can I ask you a question?"

"Go for it"

"How many people have that kind of gun, live in New York City, and just happen to be speeding and running red lights just hours after a murder took place no more than 10 miles away."

"I think that I just happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time."

"I agree with you"

"You do?"

"I agree with you but I still think that you know something that we don’t about the murder."

"You could be right, but your not!"

"I don’t appreciate your sarcasm. This is a serious matter. Its about now that you better choose your words very carefully."

"I have chosen my words carefully and I think that, I did not do it, can pretty much sum up my argument."

"That’s were you made your first mistake"

Detective Lucas jumps out of his chair and throws James on the ground. When James is on the ground detective Lucas handcuffs him and drags him out of the room. An hour later they were at the NYPD head quarters. Detective Lucas sits James down on a chair and handcuffs him to the chair.

"Hello detective Lucas, I’m detective smith from the New York investigation team."

"This is the guy."

"Have you gotten any information from him?"

"No all he had was a wallet, his name is James Thomas. He doesn’t have a record; actually this is his first time even being pulled over."

"Good work we will take it from here."

"I think I might just stick around if that’s ok with you."

"Sure that’s fine"

Another man knocked on the door. Both men walked out of the room leaving James handcuffed to the chair.

"Detective Lucas this is dr. sanders from the forensics lab."

"How are you doctor?"

"I’m fine" said Dr. Sanders "I was just in the lab doing some tests on the body from the murder earlier this morning"

"And"

"Well I found out some inform…"

There was a noise in the other room. The three men ran into the interrogation room to find that nothing was out of the ordinary.

"Sorry about those doctor Sanders, you were saying"

"Yeah I don’t know what to tell you but some of your information has to be wrong"

"What do you mean?"

"Well the DNA tests came back and the body that was found was that of a James Thomas."

The men turned around to find James standing before them with a gun pointed at Detective Lucas. The other two men stood motionless as they were shocked by what was happening. Three shots were fired. Another officer that was on guard outside of the room ran in to see what happened. The room was empty.

3rd

once again my blog is a day late but once again that is ok. i will try to get my next one in on time. i cant tell what will happen in the future though. so for now i cant say anything so i pretty much have nothing to say because i have talked about most everything in past blogs. so this week i have decided to make this blog a little bit more interesting. actually it probably wont be more interesting but i have decided to post about the given prompt this week. the best movies of all time. wow this will be hard but of course i will have to go back to some of my childhood favorites and some new ones. first i will have to start with the real all time greatest movie. it just came out in 2010 and it is called inception. for those of you who have seen it you probably know why i think that it is the greatest movie of all time. the story line of the movie is outstanding. the movie itself is just real enough to make you think if it could really be done. it is an action packed movie that happens in dreams. vnot your typical movie, i know. but it is very well thought out and very well put together. they make it very believable. here are some pictures from the movie. i dont know why they went to the top of the page but i dont really knoww how to fix it. that is my blog

2nd

well this blog is a little bit late but i guess thats ok. today my blog will be easy because today in class we had a guest speaker that gave us the opportunity to take a really cool class. i think it is the class for me. i dont particularly like traditional english class. i dont really like reading a lot or writing a lot. what i do like to do is watch movies. this clas is a class about watching movies. sounds like the class for me. i know it is going to be more than just watching movies but it will be a big part of the class. i know that there will still be a little bit or reading and writing involved in the class but that i can deal with. i also think that the teacher that teaches the class is a cool person i think he is a teacher that i will enjoy having. i dont know if i will take the class but the teacher definantly put that idea in the back of my head. i think it was a useful presentation because i had no idea that we even had that class at our highschool. i liked the presentation and i think that i might sign up for the class and it should be a good time well that waas my blog for this week once again it was late but i think it should get a decent grade.

1st of the 3rd quarter

ok so i would like to discuss my childhood cartoons with everybody but i forget how to view the prompt so i guess i will have to just do my blog the old way thisw week but it is ok because it is a new quarter and there is a bunch of new stuff going on in class now.to be honest this stuff is really boring that we are doing right now. it is a struggle to keep my eyes open in class. that has never been a big problem before this stuff. i dont know what it is but it is just really boring to me. school is not enjoyable unless you like the stuff you are doing in class. its kind of like this. if you like what is going on in class you will pay attention. if you pay attention you will get good grades. if you get good grades then you will like the class. and if you like your classes than you will like your day. and finally if you like your days at school, school will be enjoyable. to be honest i just tryed to ramble on for a couple of minutes so i could get this blog over with. i plan on not really talking directly about the class but rather to talk about it indirectly. this is hard to do as you can see because i am running out of ideas to  talk about. i need to do well on these blogs because they are a big part of our grade. if i do well on these i will have a larger margin for error on other things in class. ok i dont really want to write anything else on this blog so i think i am going to be done after this secntance. so yeah im done.

11/19/10 makeup blog

ok so this is my first and hopefully only makeup blog that i have to do. i dont really know what was going on in november which is when this blog was due but i will take a guess and just summerize the past couple of months in this blog. now that i think about it that would be a lot of stuff to fit into one blog. so lets just reminis on some of  the good times that we had in english. just kidding that would take a long time aswell im just rambeling now but it relates to english because i am practicing my improvising skills. in typing that is. well i dont know were im going from here i just need to type for fifteen minutes. so during english i

Blog

today i am determened to do two blog posts. i am doing this because i have neglected to do my blog post last week. well now to my blog. the mystery unint is a lot better than i thought it was going to be. i am suprised at the classes willingness to particapate in conversations and predictions that wwe make while reading the book. overall the stories that we watch and that we read are not that bad. compared to other stories that we read these stories are good. i also like when we read stories in class because usually it tskes up most of the class time. i do not enjoy normal class when we take notes and things. that is why i like to read during class. also i like to predict what will happen in the near future in the book. well that is about all for my blog post this week next i will do my makeup blog for a couple of weeks ago.

12-12

well the talks that we had in class were very interesting. it was kind of an eyeopener to hear everyones opinions on such a highley debated topic. i didnt talk much in the discussion, i know that is what you are suposed to do in a discussion, but i just didnt really know how to voice my opinion. its kind of like that for a lot of thinggs i dont know if it is for my lack of interest in school or if its something else. the point is i dont talk much when we are debating. i honestly have no motivation to talk in this class. if you say something its not like it matters. you cant change someones opinion that easily. i just do what i do. i sit in the back and listen untill its time to go.i think it makes school easier. so instead of getting yelled at by your teachers your parents and your friends you only have to deal with the teachers and your parents . i dont know why.

12th post or maybe 13th

well i had a hard time getting internet conection in my house, which is not a big suprise. i swear every time i need to do something, like a homework assignment, it choses to not work.but that is not something to be discussed on this blog. whqt should be on this blog is something about human rights. human rights are basically rights of equality among other human beings. everyone should be entitled to human rights. i think it is good that we are learning this in school. we cant grow up thinking that it is ok to deny other people human rights. for example, saying gay or retarded. it is not ok to say these things. what you are basically saying is that it is bad to be retarded or gay. yo are using words or phrases that describe people  in a negative way . why is this underlined. i dont know what is going on. i dont like this. not one bit. well ok there we are i dont know why that just happened but it did. but it is a good thing that we learn now that what we say can hurt people. we need to learn it now so we dont develop bad habbits and things of that nature. it is a good life lesson that needs to be tought and what better ways than learning from mistakes that we have made in the past.

Mascot, Nightjohn, and The Great Debaters

1.

Nightjohn is a story about an African American child born into slavery. Sarne, the main character and narrator, was raised to believe that white people were better than they were. She was raised to believe that only white people could have certain privileges, like being able to read. Sarne did not understand why she could not learn how to read. The truth is, that was one of the main differences between slaves and their owners. And the owners realized that they had to enforce it. No slave was aloud to learn how to read. Nightjohn, as he was called in the story, was a big influence on slaves. He escaped his job as a slave to the north. He went back to the south, and risked his life going back into slavery to teach slaves how to read. He went there with a plan, to teach the young how to read so they could pass it on to the generations. His brave actions led him to teach a young slave how to read. he completed his goal and maybe Sarne would pass it on to another child.

2.

Mascot, the story of an African American boy growing up. Malcolm was just trying to figure out what his place in this world was. Trying to find somewhere that he fit in. when he was disowned by his community after his failed boxing debut, he turned to anger and violence for his answers. After being expelled for these actions he was sent to a reform school to set him on the right path. It was at the detention home in Mason, Michigan were he grew fond of his care takers Mr. and Mrs. Swerlin. The detention home set him in the right direction. After the detention home he got a shot at going to a normal school. Mason junior high school was the next school that Malcolm went to. He had a good life during his time at school. He was on the basketball team and even became class president of his class. He had a life much like a normal white boy would have, but that did not change the fact that he was black. One day after school he went in to talk to his English teacher Mr. Ostrowski. Mr. Ostrowski started to talk to Malcolm about his future. When he asked Malcolm what he wanted to do for a living Malcolm responded,” I want to be a lawyer". Mr. Ostrowski told him that it simply would not happen because he was black. At that time it was unheard of for a black man to even think about becoming a lawyer. Malcolm then realized the harsh reality; his future was decided by the color of his skin. life would change a lot for Malcolm after this point. He later said that it was for the best that he made the decision that he did.

3.

The stories that we read in class have many similarities and differences from The Great Debaters. All of the stories have one major thing in common; they have to deal with human rights. Race was a key factor in all of the stories that we read. People simply were not treated equally because of the color of their skin. In Nightjohn the slaves were slaves because of the color of their skin. In The Great Debaters they had to overcome obstacles because of the color of their skin. And in mascot Malcolm was treated like an animal because of the color of his skin. He could not do something that he dreamed of because of the color of his skin. Even though the morals of the stories are generally the same the stories do differ. For example in the story Mascot Malcolm was not able to do what he wanted. In The Great Debaters they did go on to complete what they wanted to do. And in Nightjohn we do not know what happened. If they completed their goal or if they even had a goal. Even though the stories were so similar in the sense that they had to deal with human the endings and the outcome of the stories were different.

10th response

just for the record i am listening to the new taylor swift album.

i know at least one person will respect that. so anyway back to what this blog is about. this blog is suposed to be about something that relates to class. so this blog is related to class. what i am saying is that i said something about taylor swift in this blog and this blog is related to this class so technicly i can write this entire blog about taylor swift because it relates to class. haha pretty clever i know. so taylor swift is one or the best country artists that has ever lived. and being that i started listening to country music two years ago that may not be true. but her songs are great.

I was riding shotgun with my hair undone
In the front seat of his car
He's got a one-hand feel on the steering wheel
The other on my heart

I look around, turn the radio down
He says, ?Baby is something wrong??
I say, ?Nothing I was just thinking
How we don't have a song? and he says

Our song is the slamming screen door
Sneakin' out late, tapping on your window
When we're on the phone and you talk real slow
'Cause it's late and your mama don't know

Our song is the way you laugh
The first date man, I didn't kiss her and I should have
And when I got home, 'fore I said amen
Asking God if He could play it again

I was walking up the front porch steps
After everything that day
Had gone all wrong or been trampled on
And lost and thrown away

Got to the hallway, well, on my way
To my lovin' bed
I almost didn't notice all the roses
And the note that said

Our song is the slamming screen door
Sneakin' out late, tapping on your window
When we're on the phone and you talk real slow
'Cause it's late and your mama don't know

Our song is the way you laugh
The first date man, I didn't kiss her and I should have
And when I got home, 'fore I said amen
Asking God if He could play it again

I've heard every album, listened to the radio
Waited for something to come along
That was as good as our song

'Cause our song is the slamming screen door
Sneakin' out late, tapping on his window
When we're on the phone and he talks real slow
'Cause it's late and his mama don't know

Our song is the way he laughs
The first date man, I didn't kiss him and I should have
And when I got home, 'fore I said amen
Asking God if He could play it again
Play it again, oh, yeah, oh, oh, yeah

I was riding shotgun with my hair undone
In the front seat of his car
I grabbed a pen and an old napkin
And I wrote down our song

I was riding shotgun with my hair undone
In the front seat of his car
He's got a one-hand feel on the steering wheel
The other on my heart

I look around, turn the radio down
He says, ?Baby is something wrong??

9th Post

so it is now the ninth post and i have completely run out of things to say. i just got back from hockey tryouts and i am very tired, however before i go to sleep i need to write this. because i have nothing to say i will have to improvise.

Someone told me long ago
There's a calm before the storm,
I know; It's been comin' for some time.
When it's over, so they say,
It'll rain a sunny day,
I know; Shinin' down like water.

CHORUS:
I want to know,
Have you ever seen the rain?
I want to know,
Have you ever seen the rain
Comin' down on a sunny day?

Yesterday, and days before,
Sun is cold and rain is hard,
I know; Been that way for all my time.
'Til forever, on it goes
Through the circle, fast and slow,
I know; It can't stop, I wonder.

John Fogerty is my hero
My 20 min is up.

8th blog

ok i am on the 8th blog and for a time of about a week i thought that these blogs werent that bad but now i realize how stupid they are. but i will not complane because i have realized something great about them. if you do them , which is not hard to do. you get a free 25 points a week. i mean come on you can do these while you are watching tv. every time there is a comercial you type for a couple of minutes. 25 points is a large number of points. it could be the difference between a b and an a . so now i like the fact that mr. potter is giving us a free 25 points every week. it is a lot more than a lot of other teachers do. so because stephanie, if that is how you spell her name, put two pictures on her blog i must put three.
This is brett
these are penguines
and finaly this is a jelly fish
